Arles...

 The town square in Arles...

Lots of bugs here! They bite a lot more than our mosquitos!

The market in Arles..

We also drove to the Sea! It was so nice to get fresh air and just sit on the sand! It was an overcast day but it was still pretty hot so it was nice! This is in Sainte Marie

Yesterday we drove to Pont de Gard. The Romans built it to transport water from the river to the city. The water would flow along the top level. It has a slight grade to it so gravity would make the water flow. It was pretty impressive!

Ampitheatre & Hilltop Villages...Day 12 & 13

Yesterday we started the day with leaving Lyon and driving to Orange where there is a very old ampitheatre.

From there we went to Ansouis which is a tiny little village in Provence. We are staying at a very nice B&B here.

Right outside my mom's room is this beautiful courtyard.
Yesterday we started off by going to a small market in a hilltop village.

It's very much like the swap meat.

We tried on some hats that were for sale!

For the rest of the day we traveled from village to village. They are all hill top villages so they have tiny streets and lots of sloping streets.

 Gordes

There were a few very nice fabric and boutique shop in a few villages.

It was so hot we stopped for some icecream. There are very different flavors than what we are normally used to. Provence is famous for it's lavender so they had lavender icecream!
Nutella is a big thing around here as well. Look how big these containers are!

 Shopping at a boutique.
For dinner I had a regular american hamburger. It was sooo good!
This is what their ketchup and mayo packets look like.

Church & Chateau...Day 11

Well we haven’t had wifi the last few days except for here and there at a couple cafes so we haven’t been able to keep up the blog so Ive now added 3 new posts for you! (starts with Switzerland til today!) Enjoy!

Today we left Gevery Chambertin and went to tour a 9th century church.

Then we went to a Chateau in Cormatin. It was very neat to see all of the old architecture and décor. The gardens were also very beautiful. They had a maze garden that we went through. It reminded me of the Laurel and Hardy movie that they were stuck in a maze garden. This evening we will spend in Lyon and tomorrow we travel to the south!
