Day 3 & 4... Leaving Germany visiting Strasbourg, France

Right after breakfast we packed up, said our good byes and headed towards Heidelberg Germany. It is a nice town with a very old large castle which overlooks it from a hill. We walked around the square fora bit then continued on our way towards Kehl to take the train to Stasbourg. It was our first European train ride. There wasn't anything too spectacular about it though. It was pretty quick.

on the train...

Well we made it to Strasbourg. Our hotel is a cute little old fashioned building that sits very near a cathedral and the rest of the town square. Strasbourg has so many little restaurants, ice cream shops and other little boutiques. Everything is in walking distance for us which is very nice!

For dinner I decided to be a little bit dangerous and try escargot. It was actually very good but probably only because it was soaked in a butter and pesto.

 Eating the escargot!

At 10 we watched a show of lights on the cathedral. It was pretty neat!
Then we went and had ice cream. There are so many ice cream shops here. There are probably 10 just in this little part of Strasbourg. Late in the evening there are many people out and about the town and it seems like most people have an ice cream cone in their hand!

  2. Wow, you liked the escargot! More power to you :). Also on your previous post about espresso, just a heads up it is exactly the same in France you have to be very specific or you end up with plain shots :) - the pictures are so sweet quaint and hard to believe there is a place like that. Have fun! Ps the food looks scrumptious

  3. From April H. in WA:
Dear Digital Penpals (a.k.a. Veronica and Victoria)- Howdy from Oly! Thanks for posting your updates! Even though you've only been gone a few days, I've noticed your absence (especially at Saturday's Mariners game; e.g.- the load yelling, the two matching team shirts you always seem to wear there, the patient explaining of sheer excitement of baseball (or is it the food?), and just being with you girls, etc.:) I know you're having fun and I'm glad you're there. Undoubtedly, the pictures are the best part of your posts. Thank you. I feel like I'm there too (in a super-distant-online-commenting-sort-of-way).

To Vic, P.S. - Thanks for making it available! :-)
To Ver, P.S. - Try and see if you can get them to make you a Sugar-Free Hazelnut Latte- and tell me how it goes, how it tastes... The thought of it all is quite amusing... (Vic, could you make sure you're there with a camera? ;)

Thanks and enjoy being together with each other, and in closing, as our Pastor put it again on Sunday: In the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, I forgive you all of your sins for Christ's sake. Amen.
