Our Frist Day...

We took off at 4:30 on Wednesday afternoon and flew into Iceland at 7am Iceland time. The flight was 7 hrs. Then we had a 3hr flight to Frankfurt Germany. It was 1:30pm by the time we landed. Our time is 9hrs ahead. Or first destination was a farm that my mom used to live on when she was our age. We met ralf and his wife Astrid and their children. Ralf was 10 when my mom new him. It was gorgeous. We enjoyed just walking the farm and visiting.

We then went to ralfs parents house where we are staying overnight. Gerhard and Inge both speak a little English but it takes a lot of effort so they mostly speak German and my mom translates. It's pretty fun tryin to pick up on the language though! Last night Vic and I walked thorough the little village of Runkel. Its a very picturesque village with small stone streets, lots of flower boxes on the houses and river that runs along the village! Most the cars are all so little and they all are very zippy drivers! On our walk back home we stopped in at a small bakery for some coffee and dessert. Because it was just us two it was very hard to communicate what we wanted but after awhile we finally got the order clear. Everywhere we've gotten coffee we have to explain to add water with espresso or we end up getting a tiny little glass with a straight espresso shot. I think that's the normal coffee drink around here.

When we got home we were served delicious  ice cream with jam on it! We got to talk with Gerhard and inge a lot so it was pretty fun asking them questions about Germany and the way they live.
